Brookie fishing, with results.
Of course, the storms moved in with dark clouds and thunder and lighting and we were pushed off the lake.

A week of trout fishing.
Bait fish were boiling and lake trout were underneath having a feast.
The brook trout were also hitting nicely. Couple two pounders for dinner.
The ladies did well.

Monster winds blowing all day have made fishing a high speed activity. Drifting down a shoreline at super speed trying to pick off some fish. I lost a big smallmouth at the boat in the morning, easily 4+ and poof, he got off. Yes, a one that got away story.
In the end, got some largemouth on senkos before relaxing with a beverage.

Fishing today was slow. 30C and windy. My new watch kept telling me about the pending storm based on a falling barometer. The storm has yet to arrive.
No fish pics.

Couple more outings this week.
Bass on Saturday which was also "prop polishing on a rock" day.
Brookie on a stick Sunday (caught by my friend Barb). High of 31, we hiked a short way into a remote lake, about a km, the trail was swampy but it was too hot for even the bugs. We did a few down loops of the small lake in the bright sunshine until finally this little fatso hit an inline spinner. Given the heat, it was lucky we got even one.

Bass season has finally started in Ontario and my son and I were able to get out for a couple hours earlier this week.
Caught smallies and largemouth and some assorted panfish and a bunch of small pike. Nothing too big.
Thursday 16 June 2011 at 10:45 pm
Small seems to be in this year. All I'm getting is 2 lb fish. No big ones.
Sunday 05 June 2011 at 10:05 am
Another day on the lake. One laker to show for a few hours of downrigging.
Saturday 04 June 2011 at 07:47 am
Evening troll for some lake trout on a small Quebec lake. Got 4, kept one.
Monday 30 May 2011 at 07:44 am
Did a solo outing for lakers Sunday. Raining initially but it cleared up, by the end of day, it was pretty much a sunny day. Lnyhow, the lakers were hitting well (at least the small ones), I had 6 hits in the first hour and landed 3, the other three were "long distance releases" ... I did the old school troll, with gang troll, and silver and gold sutton. Depth was 45-55 ft in 60-80 fow when it was still cloudy and the 70 ft in 70-80 fow when it warmed up. Surface temps 59-60. Saw a few jiggers out there who looked like they were doing doing ok.
By the end of the day, 6 lakers to the boat plus 4 remote-released fish that used the classic spinning technique to avoid capture. No big fish today all 1-2 lbs.

On the way home, stopped at a local stream to try for rumoured Brown Trout.
Did ok.
